Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association (JTEA) has opened application for 2026 Japanese Government Scholarship for Taiwanese Students (Domestic Selection). It is an an exciting opportunity for Taiwanese nationals currently in Japanese graduate schools.
Scholarship Details
Scholarship is being offered by the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association and is for Taiwanese nationals currently residing in Japan and enrolled in Japanese graduate schools (or plan) for Master, Doctoral, and other professional degree programs.
JTEA Scholarship Benefits
Monthly Stipend
- ¥144,000 for Master’s and Professional Graduate Program
- ¥145,000 for Doctoral Programs
Tuition Support
- Reimbursement of tuition fees
Return Airfare
- One-way economy class ticket to Taiwan
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfil below criteria
- Hold Taiwan nationalityand residing in Japan (October 2025)
- Foreign studentwith a “Student” residence status enrolled in full-time graduate program
- Born on or after April 2, 1991
- Strong motivation to contribute to Japan-Taiwan relations during and after study
- Not receiving other scholarships from the Japanese government or affiliated institutions
Application Requirements
- Submission of Japanese-language application
- Research plan
- Master’s thesis (for Doctoral students) / abstract
- Academic Transcripts
- Certificate of enrollment
- Admission letter (for those entering in April 2026)
- Recommendation letter from a supervising professor
- Copy of passport and current residency record showing “Student” visa status
- Medical certificate (issued after April 1, 2025)
- Return envelope with ¥180 stamp
- Signed pledge and checklist documents.
