Who Should Prepare for This RWTH Scholarship?

You should prepare if you are a female applicant with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a sufficiently related technical discipline and have achieved excellent academic results. RWTH requires a cumulative grade equivalent to 2.0 or better on the German grading scale. In Germany, lower numerical grades are stronger, so 1.5 is better than 2.0.

You must also qualify for admission to one of the scholarship-supported master’s programmes. Receiving admission is essential because the scholarship cannot be awarded independently of an eligible RWTH International Academy programme.

Which Master’s Programmes Are Eligible?

  • MSc Computer Aided Conception and Production in Mechanical Engineering;
  • MSc Management and Engineering in Computer Aided Mechanical Engineering;
  • MSc Management and Engineering in Production Systems;
  • MSc Robotic Systems Engineering;
  • MSc Smart Production Engineering;
  • MSc Textile Engineering;
  • MSc Resilient Civil Engineering; and
  • MSc Battery Systems Engineering.

These programmes are taught in English and normally run for two years

Scholarship Benefits?

The scholarship pays 25% of the applicable programme tuition fee. For example, an eligible programme charging €24,000 would receive a €6,000 reduction, leaving €18,000 to be financed by the student.You must still prepare evidence of sufficient funds for your remaining tuition fees and German student-visa living-cost requirements. Do not present this award as a monthly stipend or complete funding package.

What Should You Prepare Before the Portal Opens?

RWTH International Academy states that its annual master’s application period begins in December. Before then, prepare your bachelor’s certificate, complete transcript, grading-scale information, CV, passport, programme-specific academic evidence and an accepted English-language qualification where required.

How Should You Write the 500-Word Motivation Letter?

Your letter should answer four practical questions: Why are you academically prepared for the programme? Why did you choose this engineering specialization? How will the tuition reduction affect your ability to study? How will you contribute to greater participation and leadership by women in engineering?

Use evidence rather than general claims. Mention a strong engineering project, research assignment, internship, technical achievement or leadership activity. Connect that experience with specific features of the selected RWTH programme and describe the engineering problem you hope to address after graduation.
